Power and Control

If the feminist movement has taught anyone anything, it should be that women want power and control over their bodies and lifestyles. Reproductive rights, Equal wages, Equal opportunities in the workplace, better daycare, to be considered human, cooperation with men, etc.

From what I'm understanding, Republicans used teabagger voters just to get Republicans and themselves in various offices more or less all over the nation. Now mainstream republicans are bullying tea partiers to go with their agenda and they've caved in pretty quickly. (Rand Paul comes to mind.) They've had this anti-woman views for a long time, and since they have more power now, they're using it to their advantage. Does that about sum it up? It's hard to distinguish Teabaggers from Republicans these days.

The real fight for women is having power and control over ourselves. Republicans and teabaggers are creating a battle to having control over other people. The target is now women, it has also been LGBT's, Atheists (among other freethinkers), poor people in general, people of all races... except white, etc.

Now, we accept some control over people. Murderers, thieves, abusers and rapists, etc. Generally we accept power and control over these people because they wipe out other peoples illusion of power and control. It has nothing to do with ourselves other than being the victim of these crimes. And this is why people see corporations not being held accountable... repulsive. Or seeing environmental crimes being ignored, or seeing puppies heads chopped off with no repercussion, just horrible, wrong, awful. (Or you can use stronger words if you prefer.)

Women, to some extent, have had some power and control in history... Except in maybe writing history, and if we can trust anything about history and it helping to predict the future, there are always going to be struggles over power and control. But let's step back a moment and look at this picture: If there has ever been a power thrust in today's history, it's when these Republicans in big places want to rape people without even touching them. They are trying to make every woman and possibly doctor, a potential victim. This crap is wiping out any control or power we thought we had, and with the help of Rush Limbaugh (Take a bow.) it's gonna get ugly.

I believe there will be pitchforks and torches involved... does anyone even have pitchforks and torches anymore? Maybe that's part of the problem.

Might be better if it really was about Control or Ideals. Instead of a focus to rally masses into pouring money into the hands of charlatans. They needn't be bothered by the rationality of what they say. Just make up any old lie to whip their supporters into a frenzy. The Patent Medicine show didn't disappear, it just found a new product.
