Catholic hospitals endanger women's health in name of religious freedom

From ACLU donation plea. (Link at end f/ those interested/able to help)

freedom means that we have a right to our religious beliefs. It doesn’t mean that we have the right to impose those beliefs on others—but that’s exactly what’s happening, even in hospitals. ACLU client Tamesha Means knows that firsthand. When Tamesha was 18 weeks pregnant, her water broke and she hurried to the only hospital in her county. The staff didn’t tell her that the fetus had almost no chance of survival. And they didn’t tell her that the safest thing to do was to end the pregnancy. They just sent her home. The next day she rushed back to the hospital, in pain and bleeding—but she was turned away. She came back once more with signs of an infection. The hospital was prepared to send her home again, but she started to deliver and gave birth to her baby… who died just hours later. The medical staff didn’t recommend an abortion because they’re not allowed to—even when a woman’s health or life is in danger—because the hospital is Catholic and follows directives set by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. We can’t let these kinds of practices continue. The ACLU is leading the battle against efforts to use religion to deny services and discriminate. ... The ACLU sued the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops on Tamesha’s behalf, arguing that medical standards, not religious directives, should determine care at Catholic hospitals. When our case was dismissed on June 30, we appealed that same day. We're not giving up on this fight. Donate to the ACLU now as we oppose efforts to use religion as an excuse to deny services and discriminate. Rights are on the line… and lives could be at stake.

Either put your OB-Gyn departments out of business completely or check your dogma at the door.

No, they don't have the right to push their antiwoman dogma off on unwilling people. They don't have the right to endanger the lives of women because male bishops are prissy.

Either become men's hospitals or offer full services. That's the choice.

And many times they're the only hospital in the region.
