India bans BBC documentary on gang rape/murder

A woman on a bus was gang raped and murdered. One of the attackers us on death row. BBC interviewed him; he claims the woman was attacked because she shouldn't have been on the bus at 9:30 by herself and was murdered because she fought back. In other words: blamed the victim.

Al Jazeera reports that India is banning the documentary because they don't understand why anyone should hear the murderer's explanation.

Sure. Why should anyone care that "blame the victim" is such a popular meme for abusive men? Why should the Indian gov't care that the idea of women desiring the same freedom of expression and movement as men is a prevalent excuse for being raped and murdered?

Today is International Women's Day. Apparently India doesn't care.
