...Abigail Adams!

Legend is that she used a wing of the White House for hanging her laundry!

If my wife and I had ever had a daughter, I'd have wanted to name her Abigail.

PEACE!

for two reasons:

Abigail Adams

Abigail means, loosely, "father's joy"

and my favourite quote

If particular care and attention is not paid to the ladies, we are determined to foment a rebellion, and will not hold ourselves bound by any laws in which we have no voice, or representation.
Abigail Adams

LETTERS BETWEEN ABIGAIL ADAMS
AND HER HUSBAND JOHN ADAMS

MARCH 31, 1776
ABIGAIL ADAMS TO JOHN ADAMS

"I long to hear that you have declared an independency. And, by the way, in the new code of laws which I suppose it will be necessary for you to make, I desire you would remember the ladies and be more generous and favorable to them than your ancestors.

"Do not put such unlimited power into the hands of the husbands.

"Remember, all men would be tyrants if they could. If particular care and attention is not paid to the ladies, we are determined to foment a rebellion, and will not hold ourselves bound by any laws in which we have no voice or representation.

"That your sex are naturally tyrannical is a truth so thoroughly established as to admit of no dispute; but such of you as wish to be happy willingly give up -- the harsh tide of master for the more tender and endearing one of friend.

"Why, then, not put it out of the power of the vicious and the lawless to use us with cruelty and indignity with impunity?

"Men of sense in all ages abhor those customs which treat us only as the (servants) of your sex; regard us then as being placed by Providence under your protection, and in imitation of the Supreme Being make use of that power only for our happiness."

Isn't it wonderful that we have republicans to tell us that women are too stupid to be involved in their own health decisions?

She was smarter than all of these rightist idiots combined!

our hardest ones in the 21st century.

it's like a whole colony of the truly insane, patriarchal, backward, woman-hating weirdos got dropped off by a space ship or something.

...a group of 5 idiotic and possibly incontinent old fart clergy declare a war on rubbers and an entire political party just falls in behind them. Jeeezis!

I lived in PA for 8 of the 12 years that little ricky santorum was in the senate. I've detested that little shit since I saw him announce in 1993. I was never surprised at his pronouncements though. It's too bad that the Party of Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt and Ike has become the party of teabaggers and rush limbugger.

PEACE!
