Gay Republicans: End Anti-Gay Bullying Through Home Schooling

http://www.fenuxe.com/2012/03/16/gay-republicans-end-anti-gay-bullying-through-home-schooling/

The gay Republican coalition known as GOProud released its 2012 platform yesterday, and the group offered a “unique” solution to dealing with anti-gay bullying in schools.

“The answer to the serious problem of bullying is not more federal intervention in education,” the GOProud agenda states. “Instead, we support empowering parents and families by supporting school choice initiatives and protecting the right of parents to home school their children.”

While resisting federal involvement into local school matters is a natural conservative position, it’s less clear how vouchers and home schooling – both pillars of conservative education policy – would do anything to make schools safer for LGBT students.

“It allows parents who have kids who are bullied to make sure they go to school in a safe environment,” Jimmy LaSalvia, executive director of GOProud, told Fenuxe Thursday. “If they decide that their school isn’t safe, they can take the child to a school of their choice.

“We have taken the position that big government solutions, government-mandated curriculum, is not the solution,” he added.

Or is it just some BS AstroTurf organization created in the hope that a few real gays might be duped into voting Republican?

Because this is pathetic.

So instead of fixing the bullies, we just home school gay kids as not to tarnish the schools. What's next, home schooling girls? Home schooling 90 pound weaklings? People with glasses? Boys will be boys, love it or leave it I suppose.

or out of their own asses. Typical unreasonable unworkable Republican self centered bullshit.

They are not living in the real world if their solution is to keep kids at home. The best solution would be to teach that bullying is not only wrong, but can bring criminal charges, then show that bullying is the same as assault by arresting the assholes who bully for assault.

And how many Republicans actually want to protect their gay kids? I've never known of any. Hell, it is hard enough to get Democratic parents of gay kids to be supportive and want to protect their kids instead of throwing us all into the streets.

They need to quit lying to themselves and admit that is a stupid idea along with their ridiculous decision to be Republicans.

You know that thing they loved to use back in the 50's and 60's (Etc.) to tell people they didn't think were equal that they should just stop complaining and go away.

for "good Christian students shouldn't have to go to school with those nasty (fill-in-the-blank) and we should be supporting homeschooling or use vouchers to send their kids to church schools. so they won't have to". The Rethugs, including GOProud are SO bloody transparent.

Frankly, and as compassionately as possible,

If you are LGBT, and are a republican, you're not all that bright.

There's just no way around this.
