probably won't care much for it. Being gay (as I am) has nothing whatsoever to do with it...I like football too (American style) but I despise basketball. You should try it once, especially since it's free...hey what the heck?

I'm the type of person that when it comes to sports I like to participate & not spectate. Never did like basketball or baseball though. Living in Florida most of my life I was just never around hockey.

nut. She and I both hate hockey but she begged me to go so I went. It was boring, boring, boring. One team scored 3 goals and I never saw one of the goals go into the net. I told my friend not to ask me again. He is really into all kinds of sports. I am sure they are divorced by now. I couldn't stand the selffish bum. No sports is worth giving up your life for to follow.

The best way to watch hockey is live. The perfect way to break into the game. Grab a program and learn some of the rules. Great live sport.

I went to a fight and guess what. A hockey game broke out. The fan interaction can be fun. On the other hand some collage or Olympic games can prove that hockey does have some stragity behind it. On TV not so too very good, about one step above watching golf. Two steps above watching paint dry.
Live. Go; have a cold one. If ya get bored leave.

from the time she was in middle school through college. She played on boys teams and girls teams. When she was 13 years old, her team (girls) played at the Islanders Colesium between periods. I have been to Rangers, Islanders, and youth and college games. I have also been to the EVERBLADES games. As somebody said, go to one of those games to see a fight, and have hockey break out. Never mind the fans in SHORTS AND FLIP FLIPS???? The only people who should wear SHORTS to a hockey game are the HOCKEY PLAYERS.

Anyway, once you have seen NHL, ANY NHL, these minor league hockey teams are a real zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

If you have been to Minor, or Bush league, MLB games, it is the same. They are players that haven't, or can't, make it to the "big leagues".

Seems like the game is a lot more open with more end-to-end rushes. Less fights, too. I admit, I'm spoiled because we have the University of Maine Black Bears up here and they've been had many championship level teams over the years. It's fun to watch them live, but they've been sold out for as long as I can remember. I've watched games that have been so close and intense, only to be won or lost in the last seconds of the 3rd period. I think it's my favorite sport to watch...I do also like baseball, though.

(Ok to be fair they were using a backup Freshman goalie, but still... )

Oh wait, how'd that last game with Maine turn out?

And lets compare tourney results, shall we?

The UMO Black Bears:

17 NCAA Tourney Appearances
11 Final Four Appearances
5 Hockey East Championships
2 NCAA Championships

OK....your turn.

The adrenaline, action, and excitement can overcome the instincts for rational drink consumption. I still remember a very bad experience I had with a pint of Southern Comfort at a Boston College football game.

On TV you don't quite capture the impact of the sport. Football is too damn cold for me most of the time (I do live in the NE but still!) And baseball you sit too far away unless you shell out a ton of cash.

The reactions that good goalies have borders on unreal. Typically, a good slap shot is 80-100MPH. A big league baseball catcher will see those speeds from a pitcher. But, he always has a clear line of site to the pitcher, it's always thrown from the same place and distance (60.5')...and he's not on skates with 30 lbs of cumbersome protection, taking slap shots from 30-40 feet away. Add a couple of defensive players and opposition players blocking his line of sight or trying to change the direction of the shot at the last second....it's amazing to me that game scores aren't more like football scores.

Hope you see action like this...have fun!

I'm a fan of the Tampa Bay Lightning. I watch at least part of almost every game, and often watch whole games.
I don't regularly watch other sports, except the odd football game and the Superbowl.

Hockey is fast, exciting, sometimes brutal, and often displays wonderful skill. I appreciate it even when it's against the team I root for.

I don't know about minor league teams, but I'd go see them. I do love NHL teams on a big screen TV, especially the Lightning.
