How deep are the haters pockets?

NOM has been pretty arrogant in the past couple years about how much they have in their coffers to fight Marriage Equality.
But in reality, how far will their bankroll go?

It looks to me like they will be fighting on more fronts than they ever imagined, even just a few months ago.

NY: They vowed to put their money against 'rogue' Republicans in the Assembly who are running for re-election later this year.
CA: They vowed to continue to fight Prop 8 either with an appeal to SCOTUS or an en banc appeal.
IA: They are pushing to have Marriage Equality there overturned.
MN: They are promoting the anti-equality amendment drive.
NC: Ditto
ME: They are fighting Marriage Equality here.
NJ: Ditto
MD: Ditto

It looks to me like they are going to be spread pretty thin.

NOM has lost many court fights to keep it's donor lists secret, but they always appeal and so far have managed to avoid releasing much information. Some recent info they were forced to release in New Hampshire (or was it Maine - I am not sure) indicated very few individual donors. The bulk of its funding came from the Catholic Church. This is just a tiny portion of the records that NOM has managed to so far keep secret. The theory is that they are desperate to avoid releasing their donor lists because the Catholic Church (and maybe the Mormons) make up probably 99% of their funding.

as soon as the governor signs the just passed marriage equality bill, NOM has said they will immediately file for a ballot initiative. They will fund the effort to get the 120 thousand plus signatures needed, and they will probably succeed. By doing so, it prevents the bill from going into effect, marriages will be delayed until after the election, or maybe for years if they win.

Also, the famous science fiction writer, Orson Scott Card, is on their board, and he has tons of money thanks to his successes selling books, notably "Ender's Game" which is also being made into a movie making him more money. Card is an extremist homophobic psychopath and a Mormon.

That's sad to hear. I love his books. I didn't even know he was Mormon. What a shame.

The crazy Mormon-ness in the earlier books is there- Ender's mom's Mormon, Alvin Maker and Homecoming have themes that borrow from Mormon scriptures heavily. Ender's parents are prevented from following their religious beliefs in childbearing and parenting because of population control, and their religiosity is a secret even from the children. But his protagonists didn't get obsessed with Having ALL The Babies and stopping the evil liberal global government until later.

I think the question is: how long will these very deep pockets shell out big money to slow down the inevitable?

We should stand up and demand they put abortion and contraception to a popular vote as well. They'd NEVER allow it.
