Pope Francis not so great after all

http://www.thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/davidbadash/pope_francis_announces_support_for_laws_banning_same_sex_marriage_and_adoption

"In his general audience address Wednesday, Pope Francis I offered support for laws that would ban same-sex marriage, adoption by same-sex couples, and for allowing parents to remove children from sex-ed classes. Citizens in Slovakia will vote on the measures Saturday."

No surprises here. He's still a pope, if less of an asshole than the previous pope.

I like Pope Francis, but his effort to "soften the tone" of Catholic theological bigotry is beginning to smell of hypocrisy. If you promote secular policy that opposes basic human rights for gay people, it really makes no difference if you are a kindly, smiling old pope or a foaming at the mouth wingnut Republican. In fact, I'd almost prefer to deal with the mouth-foaming types.

and Benny wrote even more extensively than Frank on the economic issues which DU's Frankie Fans claim as reason for promoting him. Benny wrote about globalization, income inequity and poverty just like his fellow anti gay and anti choice activist, Francis.

You dare to bring FACTS into this discussion?!

Why are you promoting the gay agenda?!

That reminds me....must buy milk for bread pudding and clean out dryer trap. The gay agenda waits for no-one!

Looks like my optimism was in vain.
