If you want to be on hand Aug. 6 when a federal appeals court in Downtown Cincinnati hears arguments about four different states bans on gay marriage, you'll have to get there early. Whether bans in Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan and Tennessee are constitutional will be the question before the court.
Officials for the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals said Monday there will only be room for 215 spectators, and some of them will be seated in two overflow courtrooms where spectators will be able to hear audio of the arguments. The audio will not be posted for the public outside the courthouse until after the 1 p.m. hearing ends.
The court clerk's office said in the Monday order that "once the courtrooms have reached capacity, no additional spectators will be admitted" to the Potter Stewart Courthouse at 100 E. Fifth St.
The seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis, with the courtroom opening at noon; seats may not be "saved" for spectators arriving later, court officials said.... MORE at link provided above
