(574 posts)Lawyer's fees contribute to GDP, and lawyers pay taxes. Then, someone moves out, needs a place to live, a new microwave oven, blender, cutlery...sorry. I have long maintained that too many things are good for the economy that aren't so good for society. Wildfires, drive-by shootings, Twinkies, Kardasians...
While I'm in favor of marriage equality on the basis of equality, economic reasons for equality are at best a side benefit.

(574 posts)changes hands during and afterward shouldn't be a major issue, anymore than how many hot dogs are sold at the VE ticker tape parade was important to WWII. It's not the money, it's my country acting according to it's best principles.
