Hillcrest man beaten with baseball bat for being gay; suffers broken eye socket, cracked ribs
Victim: Attackers 'thought it was fun'

(excerpt)
"I’ve never been that scared in my entire life,” said Dwayne Wynn. “I literally thought I was going to die. I thought they were going to kill me. They were beating me that bad."

Wynn's eye socket was broken in the attack. He has 18 stitches in his side and three cracked ribs.

His fingers were also fractured from trying to protect his face.

"They just didn't stop and they thought it was a game,” Wynn said. “They thought it was fun."... MORE

A brutal hate crime was inflicted upon me four years ago. It is a wonder I survived it, do have considerable physical limitations and major PTSD from it, and only paid off all the medical bills I had to put on Care Credit a few months ago.
I'm going to throw this right out there about this, the more time it's been since this happened the freer I feel to lambast an unholy collusion between CHS homophobe-hospitals and Blue Cross. I'm glad the ACA will keep some of their screw-people for profits in check, but I certainly will never give either one my business ever again.
It's not the first time my life has been seriously threatened, damaged by homophobia, but I keep hoping it will be the last. I'm hanging on for work in the SF bay area again, as I do feel safer about that aspect there. But if nothing there pops up for me, I have to go where the work is.
Yes the homophobes are sick MOFO's. After these boys had doored me off my bicycle, cracking my skull and rendering me mostly unconcious, they jumped out and repeatedly kicked me in the head about 100 times. They were laughing and I could vaguely recall "fuckin faggot" type comments from them, but only under a hypnosis type exposure therapy program for PTSD victims. ,
I still have some days my injuries get in my way. I've never gotten back into the shape I was in before this happened despite all efforts to exercise. I could take my disability benefits for this, but don't want to, I had plans to improve my retirement home that got delayed, but still am trying to live a semblance of the life I'd planned before this happened.
There is no godly justification for these heinous acts. I have seen where RWNJ's will actually encourage this sort of violence, though.

But there are many of us out here who will support you and keep up the fight. Too many people have NO idea how homophobia affects REAL people every day and endangers all our lives. Nothing strengthens my resolve more than hearing stories such as your or hearing people trivialize bigotry as some "pet issue".

lovely la la land many like to project. Those believing it is have their eyes closed, parts of America are just as much hellholes as other places on earth many like to think we are not. It's certainly not the worst place on earth, but I often have difficulty with the bullshit about how great America is.

BS about equality, equal opportunity ... and wonder about the colored bathrooms, the KKK, how anyone foreign was treated, the Indians, on and on ... and at a very little age I concluded much of it was total BS.

Growing up I saw a lot of bigotry and hatefulness, as well as endless hypocrisy. Dig under the surface a bit, and many people are ugly.

As I've told some people before and they agree, it doesn't matter WTF you do, about half of the people are going to hate you for absolutely no reason than their own baggage, hangups and faulty programming.
