Now for the news that no one really needs, but...

I informed my employer that as of January 1, 2014, I will be going down to three days a week. This is enough hours to keep my insurance and benefits.

I'm doing this for several reasons. One: The job I currently hold, I hate. There is no creativity, no interaction, and no change of scenery at all. Two: I'm enjoying some good times as an author, and I think I can do well enough that the two days I'm dropping at work won't impact my money situation. Three: I love writing.

We got news the other day that the book I wrote with a friend comes out on January 10th.

Mostly, it reduces my stress levels. And after 27 years at my job, I think it's time for a change. I hope this is the change that I needed.

I have the opportunity to retire early in about a year, and have already decided to go for it.
I don't dislike my job, and the people I work with are great, but there are so many things that I want to do that I can't because work gets in the way. I would have somewhat more comfortable income levels if I waited 10 or 15 years, but I don't think I could live with the regret.

Live your dream.
