Fund Set Up To Help Gay Man Left Paralyzed By Senseless Attack

After a brutal attack that may have been motivated by his sexual orientation but which will leave him paralyzed potentially for the rest of his life, Scott Jones is receiving some much-needed support.

Friends and family of the 27-year-old Nova Scotia native have set up a trust fund to aid in his long road to recovery:

Scott is the kind of guy that everyone is lucky to know. He cares deeply for his family, friends and community who he supports. On Saturday October 12th at 2:30am his life drastically changed. He is now paralyzed and trying to recover physically and emotionally from a vicious attack.

The road ahead for Scott will be challenging; physically, emotionally and financially. He will no longer be able to do the things he’s been accustomed to do for the past 27 years. The financial requirements of his rehabilitation is far beyond the capability of his family so with your support we can help them to focus on supporting Scott. A trust fund has been set up in his name to ensure all money donated goes to supporting Scott with his rehabilitation process.

I don't know what the laws in Canada might be (are their hate crime laws in CA?) but I hope his attacker will receive many years behind bars, enough so that no one else can become a victim of his senseless hatred.
