Russia to ban adoptions by foreign same-sex couples
Reuters
guardian.co.uk, Saturday 1 June 2013 16.41 BST
Russia will ban foreign same-sex couples from adopting Russian children, an official has said, underscoring a growing rift over gay rights between President Vladimir Putin and the west.
Putin said in April that a French law allowing same-sex marriage went against traditional Russian values and signalled that Moscow would take steps to ensure gay couples from abroad did not adopt Russian orphans.
An amendment restricting foreign adoptions to "traditional" families would be submitted by the government to parliament in its autumn session, Alexei Levchenko, a spokesman for the deputy prime minister, Olga Golodets, said on Saturday.
Russian legislation sets several requirements for adoptive parents from abroad, such as sufficient income and a clean criminal record. But it does not mention sexual orientation or address the issue of same-sex couples.

life with loving parents.
Stalinism, with all of its hate, fear, and stupidity, is still alive and festering like a MRSA infection in Russia.

Russian Orthodox Church! The MRSA that Stalinism failed to eradicate.

In 1933, Joseph Stalin added Article 121 to the entire Soviet Union criminal code, which made male homosexuality a crime punishable by up to five years in prison with hard labor. The precise reason for Article 121 is in some dispute among historians. The few official government statements made about the law tended to confuse homosexuality with pedophilia and was tied up with a belief that homosexuality was only practiced among fascists or the aristocracy.
The law remained intact until after the dissolution of the Soviet Union; it was repealed in 1993.

Stalin was a fascist shithead who co-opted the revolution and turned Russia and the Soviet Union into a dictatorial authoritarian conservative nightmare.
