According to NBC Bay Area, the magazine will include a photo taken at "Hi Tops," a new gay sports bar in San Franciscos Castro District. The image was snapped the moment the 49ers won the game which secured the team a spot in the Super Bowl, and captures the thrill of victory with cheers and kisses at a gay sports bar.
"Hi Tops" owner, Jesse Woodward told NBC the photos inclusion in the magazine sends a message to the world that sports fans come from all walks of life and were all a big melting pot. A sentiment echoed by one of establishments bartenders, Logan Chavarria. A lot of people come in and dont even know its a gay bar and then we find out we have a common bond, he told NBC.
Chavarria also pointed out that the photo snapped at "Hi Tops" being included in the coverage of a mainstream sports magazine feels like a win for the entire LGBT community. I told my mom and she cried, he added.

Sometimes I think people are capable of disgusting and hateful things; this is one of those redeeming moments that restores my faith in humanity's humanity.

(5,756 posts)Coaches of NFL teams are even talking about how they'd be okay with a gay player now. Of course, I wouldn't want to be the first one. The coaches, the fans, and the media might at least say they're okay with it. But they don't have to be in the locker room. Of course, I'm sure there are already gay players in the NFL. They're just probably firmly in the closet for their own safety still.
One of them will come out. It will change the opinions of a lot of his team mates. Probably not all of them but at least some of them and it will be a start.
