Mormon Church Calls For Compassion Toward Gays, Says Homosexuality Is Not A Choice

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/12/06/mormon-church-calls-for-more-compassion-towards-gays-homosexuality-not-a-choice_n_2252874.html?ir=Gay+Voices

Mormon leaders unveiled a new website Thursday encouraging church members to be more compassionate in discussions about homosexuality.

Church officials insist they haven't changed the Mormon teaching that marriage is only between a man and a woman and that same-sex relationships are sinful. However, the website includes an appeal to gay and lesbian Mormons to stay in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
...

"We must not judge anyone for the feelings they experience," church authorities wrote, saying homosexuality "should not be viewed as a disease or illness."

"You're innately homosexual, but to act on it is an objectively disordered sin."

That's about all I can say about the new 'outreach' by this church...

From Merriam-Webster's Dictionary

Compassion:

: sympathetic consciousness of others' distress together with a desire to alleviate it.

Firstly, being gay is not a state of distress, and I don't need anyone to alleviate it.
I don't want or need anyone's compassion for being gay, frankly it's about the most
incredibly insulting way there is to pronounce judgement on someone as being a defective
human being from behind a smokescreen of feigned concern.

In a word, pathetic.
