that I've often seen (and wanted to meet) at our local gym.
We rarely go to movies but "Lincoln" was an exception. And it was stunning. Daniel Day Lewis IS the 16th president reincarnated. I was in tears before the end of the first scene. He is utterly, frighteningly believable. And 'Sister Bertrille' has grown into one of the finest actresses imaginable. Sally Field's 'Mary Todd' was awesome and unforgettable. At the end of the movie, neither Michael nor I could speak. We sat through the entire credits-ALL the credits-before leaving. We were the last ones out of the theater.
Dinner was our first experience at a nearby "locavore" restaurant. Scallops on shrimp and feta risotto with Abita Andygator (a strong Louisiana beer). I love scallops and these were exceptional. Then we were approached by the floor manager who my partner immediately recognized as a gorgeous young man that we've been working out with for several months. We've spoken often before but now we know each other. Life is good, very, very good....
Altogether, an excellent night.

(29,503 posts)It's nice to hear that we GLBT people actually DO know how to enjoy our lives - sometimes it seems like so many of us aren't.
I also saw Lincoln, and while not what I would describe as fun, was extremely watchable and educational - as you say, due in large part to the excellent performances by Lewis, Field, but also Tommy Lee Jones.
I, however, did not get any nookie afterward, so I think you trumped me on that score.

(29,503 posts)LOVED him in this. And you know, it's like Holbrook has been old for so long, he's ageless.
It really would be nice to see him win an Oscar, not only for this performance, but for a lifetime of exquisite performances, since he's never won one.

(3,175 posts)I was utterly overwhelmed by the emotional roller coaster that Ang Lee creates in the movie. In 3-D it's almost a physical roller coaster too. My hands were sore from gripping the arm rests so hard! It's a GORGEOUS movie and Lee deserves every Oscar he gets for it.
I've now seen it 4 times and it just gets better every time.
