Texas Gay Couple Told to Leave or Die

gay couple in Clarendon, Texas, awoke Monday morning to find a death threat spray-painted on their front porch, an act of vandalism that has left them both fearful for their lives. Joshua Harrison and Jeremy Jeffers reported the hate-filled vandalism to the local police, according to Pronews 7. The message read, "Leave or die fags," and it appeared not long after an area minister's antigay advertisement was published in the local newspaper. Clarendon Church of Christ pastor Chris Moore's ad listed the "platform" of the "Homosexual Movement," which included this line: "Folks, don't be fooled, the 'gay' agenda isn't about 'equal' rights for gay couples. Their agenda would force everyone to compromise their values, make our children legal prey for pedofiles."

Pronews 7 reported that the "source" of information cited in the ad, the National Coalition of Gay Organizations, was a convention that was held in 1972.

Donley County sheriff Charles "Butch" Blackburn told Travis Ruiz that he does "consider it a hate crime."

The two men, however, are planning to do just want the vandal ordered: leave Clarendon.

It's remarkable how little has changed in some respects

I'm pissed at not only the sheriff of that cow town but the residents.

I live in a rural area of the County where I reside and it's filled with rednecks and I have never had anything like this happen to me which is a good thing. This gun totin homo has a couple AR-15's and I know how to use them.

never saw them again. Of course I always came back to the neighborhood to visit the folks. Between Jail and the vietNam war, I outlasted them.

The only reference to him I can find in any of the articles is his statement that he considers it a hate crime. Better than the alternative, non ?

Please don't assume that everybody in a "cow town" is trash.

I misread, This is what I thought I read " not consider it a hate crime." Happens to the best of us.

Comming from a "cow town" myself, I stand by my original statement. And I don't believe I used the word "trash" or anything close to that. Show me a group in that town any group that town came to their defense for such a hanious act. I won't hold my breath though.
