I spent the last week at the GALA (Gay and lesbian choruses) convention

It was an amazing experience. There are some amazing choruses out there in cities you wouldn't believe. If you live in Kansas City, run don't walk, to see the Heartland Men's chorus. Their set was a documentary about growing up gay entitled When I Knew. It used stories from their own chorus about when they knew they were gay coupled with photos and narration from Dan Savage. Not a dry eye in the house when they were done.

If you live in Charlotte go see One Voice of Charlotte. Their set included both a devastating song featuring both Seth Walsh's suicide note and her mother's response and an utterly hilarious song about Santorum and his google problem.

I could go on but the point is that it was so inspirational to be around so many talented gay people. Plus Denver was so totally welcoming. We wore our credentials so when we were wandering around Denver people would ask us what GALA was etc. and uniformly the reaction was so positive. Plus we were like a moderate sized gay city for the time we were there.

Oh and the San Francisco chorus had Steven Schwartz of Wicked and tons of other musicals fame.

I did support work for the Denver Gay Men's Chorus (I don't sing) and had a great time. These are really great organizations.

the rumor at the convention was that GALA is considering making Denver a permanent host. Other than the fact that air travel to Denver is fairly expensive I would be quite happy with that.
