Southern Baptists: Gay rights not civil rights

AP foreign, Thursday June 21 2012

TRAVIS LOLLER

Associated Press= NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A day after electing their first African-American president, Southern Baptists passed a resolution opposing the idea that same-sex marriage is a civil rights issue.

Thousands of delegates at the denomination's annual meeting in New Orleans on Wednesday were nearly unanimous.

It acknowledges that gays and lesbians sometimes experience "unique struggles" but declares that they lack the "distinguishing features of classes entitled to special protections."

not one of the crazy ones. Not all things are the same. it is one of those religions where different churches think differently. O maybe Jimmy is in a different baptist group now. Off to check.

never mind - according to Wikipedia

In April 2006, Carter, former-President Bill Clinton and Mercer University President Bill Underwood initiated the New Baptist Covenant. The broadly inclusive movement seeks to unite Baptists of all races, cultures and convention affiliations. Eighteen Baptist leaders representing more than 20 million Baptists across North America backed the group as an alternative to the Southern Baptist Convention.

he is now a New Baptist.

And Southern Baptist beliefs, not the people themselves, but the ministers, preachers and play pretend holy men of that sect can collectively enjoy the hell that surely awaits them for being such hypocritical assholes.

I hope the apostle Paul joins them, because he was always part of the problem in Christianity - never met Christ but twisted his words.

should not grant civil rights protection, but a choice (religion) should? This is always the problem. Of the protected classes, religion is the only one that is a choice.
