Catawba Valley Area of NC Fights Back Against Hate

The Town of Maiden has released this statement:

"While this church has a Maiden address, the church is NOT located within the city limits of Maiden. The Town of Maiden does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, gender or sexual orientation. The Town of Maiden does not condone and in fact rejects expressions of hate against any individual or group".

Please express your support for them on Facebook if you want:

Catawba Calley Citizens Against Hate was started by an Appalachian State University student, and she has seen her expected numbers of protesters soar this week, from about 200 to thousands. Attendees of the peaceful LOVE NOT HATE protest will include a bunch of national media, including Anderson Cooper. She also has a Facebook page, with a lot of interesting info, and comments from some locals who don't like Charles Worley being the face of Catawba-Caldwell-Lincoln-Gaston counties.

It's about a 2 hour trip from me; not bad. It all depends on how Rob feels on Saturday, like can he ride for that long then stand for any lengthy amount of time. We're really thinking about going.

But I have something that has been planned for quite a while Sunday, and may not be able to get out of it.

HW -- it's a fast trip down 40, and only about 14-15 minutes after you get onto 321 at Hickory.

because it's about 3 hours from Hickory to our house. Two, if you ignore the speed limit and keep up with traffic

I have a cousin in Hickory and used to come down from Candler to see her once in a while.
