Related: About this forumGay penguin couple given their own egg to rear
The two male penguins, Inca and Rayas, met at Madrids Faunia Park six years ago, and have been inseparable since then. However, they have been building a nest every year in the hope of being able to nurture a young penguin, to no avail.
The Times reports today that zoo-keepers will place an egg in their nest, in order for them to become parents.
Yolanda Martin, who takes care of the pair, told the newspaper: We wanted them to have something to stay together for so we got an egg. Otherwise they might have become depressed.

I wonder why those two penguins "chose" to be gay?
When I hear of stories of homosexuality in species other than human, it make me wonder how the religious nut jobs can say it is a choice.
I want to know when Romney is going to step in and state they need to be raised in a traditional family, you know one dad and five moms.

(16,862 posts)In a link I posted a while ago, they're inhabited by demons that make them gay.

(738 posts)Isn't this a penguin situation that could only occur with human intervention?

(18,421 posts)There are orphaned eggs in the wild as well. Many animals from most animal species are known to adopt (generally those who care for young).

(38,187 posts)hopefully, we can post it here in this thread and get to watch them.
I find animal documentaries and online animal cams to be some of the most fun. One night I was feeling particularly harried and happened to click the link to Savannah, the eagle in NC, who just had a baby eaglet. Not only did it calm me down, but when I went to sleep that night, I left it on to listen to the tree frogs in the background. Best sleep I have had in years. Now, my own tree frogs here in my yard are starting up. I hate the heat from this time of year, but I love getting to see more animals and hear the tree frogs and the barred owls at night.
If anyone finds an online cam for these two penguins and their baby, would you please add a link to this thread? I'm sure many of us would love to be able to watch them.

(18,421 posts)In the meantime... Here's the video of the story on the penguins... http://penguinnewstoday.blogspot.com/2012/05/more-on-madrid-zoos-gay-penguins.html
This is the zoo's website... http://www.faunia.es/es
I don't think there is a cam right now.

(38,187 posts)If I can get some time, I might contact them and ask if it is possible to put up a cam, if they don't do it on their own. Thank you for the links and the video.
Of course! And if I do come across one, I will post it here.
