It's made the rounds, apparently - but not here, AFAIK.
I just stumbled across it tonite after re-watching the "Savage vs. MSM Journalists of Tomorrow" brouhaha ( which itself is magnificent, BTW.)
And... hang in there for the post-script.

(3,491 posts)fathers. You know what, it really doesn't matter, cause coming out is the right thing to do IMHO. I have stated in another OP that I am straight, but that I totally understand, and accept the GLBT community. Many friends that are in this community, and appreciate all of them and their input to society. All GLBT folks, you know that you have my full support.

(1,485 posts)but he is still texting throughout the conversation. It takes away from the moment-
Just for the record-I have no kids and do not deal with this(texting, etc)

(14,498 posts)Which , from the get-go, it is apparent, makes him uncomfortable as hell.
My guess is he was pretending to text. Remember she was also on his case about the usual mother vs. almost-grown-son stuff ( stubborn, etc.) Actually berating him for not coming out earlier.
I found the situation... and the individuals.... very real.

(1,485 posts)it is silly to harp on dumb stuff like that.
I'm happy to see any event in any family

(14,498 posts)... 1. the kid video'd it; 2. mom basically knew... or strongly suspected.... he was gay; 3. kid pretty much knew that mom pretty much knew.
But I think mom's reaction was totally genuine, and no one can "act" that well.

(14,498 posts)... youtube. So the camera-awareness was something they didn't appear to hide.
I think the *content* of the discussion was a surprise.
Not , obviously, a shock... as the ensuing dialogue makes clear. But that's what I liked about her. Her nonplussed-ness ( I'll bet that' not even a word; how about matter-of-factness?).
She absorbed the "news" in exactly the way that news like this OUGHT to be absorbed. With exactly the right sense of proportion.

Daniel, don't be afraid of being who you need to be.
