Turkish-Israeli trade booms despite harsh rhetoric

Turkey's mutual trade volume with Israel reached over $5.6 billion in 2014, representing a nearly 50 percent rise over 2009 despite lingering diplomatic tension between the two, official figures show.

Data from the Turkish Statistics Institute (TurkStat) shows that mutual trade volume reached $2.6 billion in 2009. Turkish exports to Israel jumped to $2.92 billion in 2014 from $1.5 billion in 2009, while imports from Israel increased to $2.7 billion from $1.1 billion in the same period.

The escalation in tension between Turkey and Israel after the Davos crisis, when then-Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stormed out of a panel discussion after lambasting Israeli President Shimon Perez, and over the Mavi Marmara attack, in which nine Turkish civilians were killed by Israeli marines who boarded a Gaza-bound flotilla ship, did not prevent trade between the two from rising steadily.

It's actually a 115% increase, I guess this BDS stuff is only for western consumption.

about how BDS is growing fast and making a dent in the Israeli economy despite overwhelming facts to the opposite.
Are they really that self delusional in denying facts and believe it so or is it they just don't want to admit its a failure/ false. Maybe it's a mix as it all runs rampant with the anti Israel crowds other IP views too.
Between the false claims of victories for changes that had nothing to do with BDS and the ppumping up claims of victories that are marginal or meaningless at best, it shows real desperation. The few actual victories BDS has had are few and small with 0 effect on Israel's economy.

They think that if they just keep repeating the same lie over and over endlessly that people will eventually come to believe it. They don't understand that it's only working on themselves.

that something they appear to care deeply about is simply not cared about by the vast majority who blame the Palestinians for their own plight in Gaza for voting in a terrorist organization as their government. The vast majority don't care that they provide some humanitarian services when their deserved reputation is for murder and violence. BDS was bound to fail.

Israel's trade with Turkey is peanuts right now. Israel finds itself with a hoarde of natural gas, much more than it could possibly use. The experts say it will never be economical to liquify the gas and send it to Asia.

Israel's only hope is to sell it to Turkey or Egypt. And years have gone by without cutting a deal because of the Arab Israeli conflict.

If Israel has natural gas and Turkey needs it they will buy it , without thinking what some western BDS movement in the USA or Belgium has to say about it.

by Turkey not having bought the gas so far. If Turkey does buy it one day, Israel's loss will have been mitigated not avoided. But as things stand, the experts do not predict a sale in the short or medium term.

has nowhere else to go for the natural gas? Why aren't they honoring the boycott?
