Israeli minister calls for Israeli sovereignty over all of Jerusalem

https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/news/middle-east/16086-israeli-minister-calls-for-israeli-sovereignty-over-all-of-jerusalem

The Israeli Minister of Construction and Housing Uri Ariel called for "imposing the Israeli sovereignty over all areas in Jerusalem".

During a tour he took of Shuafat, a Palestinian neighborhood in East Jerusalem, he said: "It is clear that there are parts where Israel does not exercise neither its sovereignty nor its control over, and this is happening here in Jerusalem, the capital of Israel."

The website of Israel's Channel 7 quoted Ariel as saying: "The solution requires a special effort from all of us, and I will work, together with the other members, on exercising the Israeli sovereignty over this region."

The Israeli public radio reported that Ariel said: "I had a look at the size of the phenomenon of unauthorized construction in Shuafat as well as the repeated incidents of shooting of live bullets from Shuafat towards neighboring Jewish neighborhoods."

1) "Exercising the Israeli sovereignty", IMHO, is code for forced colonization.

2) What Palestinian construction do the Israelis allow vs Israeli construction, and how many Israeli buildings are torn down as a result?

The Israelis want to steal all the land they covet from the Palestinians, with Jerusalem being a prime target.

He is from the Jewish Home party. They are clear and consistent in their far right-wing positions, especially with respect to Jerusalem.

To suggest that he is representative of "The Israelis" and what they want is like saying that Ted Cruz represents Americans and what they want, rather than just the extreme wing of his party.

Israelis who back The Jewish Home party are definitely right-wingers. They are Israel's version of the Tea Party folks here.

Sadly, both Israel and the US (and a whole lot of other countries in the world) have a sizable chunk of right wingers, many of whom have leadership positions and large followings.
