Economy minister tells Army Radio that, in face of terror wave, Israel should move from defense to attack, as it did in 2002's Operation Defensive Shield in the West Bank during the second intifada.
Economy Minister Naftali Bennett called Wednesday for Israel to launch a military operation in east Jerusalem to root out terror infrastructure.
Bennett's comments came in an Army Radio interview a day after two Arab suspects from east Jerusalems Jebl Mukaber neighborhood stormed the Kehillat Bnei Torah Synagogue in Har Nof, killing five people.
The Bayit Yehudi leader called for an action similar to 2002's Operation Defensive Shield aimed at rooting out terror in the West Bank during the second intifada.
"We need to move from defense to attack, like we did in Operation Defensive shield," Bennett said.

(25,699 posts)Every Arab killed by an Israeli is a terrorist. Simply being killed by an Israeli makes that Arab a terrorist. Man or woman, child or elder. Everyone knows that Israelis only kill terrorists, because Israelis are inherently righteous and good, their bombs and bullets and jars of kerosene are guided by the hand of god to only ever strike bad people. So everyone they kill, deserved it. And if they happen to somehow kill someone who didn't deserve it, well, it's because another of the Filthy Arabushim made them do it. Those crafty amalek bastards, with their mind-control over the righteous and pure Israeli Defense Forces, you know.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described on Wednesday his government's strict measures against Palestinians in Jerusalem as part of a battle over the holy city.
Speaking after a bloody confrontation that killed five Israelis and two Palestinians inside a synagogue in the western part of Jerusalem, Reuters news agency quoted Netanyahu as saying that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas is the one responsible for inciting violence in the holy city and calling the killings, along with a spate of recent attacks, part of a "battle over Jerusalem".
"As a nation we will settle the score with every terrorist and their dispatchers, and we have proved we will do so, but no one may take the law into their own hands, even if spirits are riled and blood is boiling," Netanyahu reportedly said in broadcast remarks.
Over the past few months, tensions in occupied Jerusalem have been rising as extremist

A Palestinian human rights organisation announced on Tuesday that 475 Palestinians are currently serving life sentences inside Israeli jails, Anadolu news agency reported.
The Palestinian Prisoners' Centre for Studies reportedly issued a statement saying that 28 out of the 475 Palestinians serving life in prison are from the Gaza Strip, while the others are from different areas in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem.
Prisoner Hassana Salameh from Gaza has received the largest number of life sentences. He was arrested on 17 May 1996 and is serving 48 life sentences.
All Palestinian prisoners face Israeli military courts, which Haaretz newspaper reported last year "systematically deny Palestinians the right to a fair trial".
On 25 June 2006, Palestinian fighters arrested an Israeli soldier in a tank at the border of the Gaza Strip and later swapped him to secure the release of 1,027 Palestinian prisoners.
According to Anadolu, the Palestinian ministry of prisoners issued a statement on 26 August saying that around 7,000 Palestinian prisoners are currently inside Israeli jails 84.8 per cent are from the occupied West Bank, 9.5 per cent from Jerusalem or 1948 Palestine and 5.7 per cent from Gaza.

(39,961 posts)That bugs the heck out of me. I'm not going to sit here and pretend this was justified.
It's not right. AT ALL.
There is NO justification for killing peaceful people in a house of worship.
NONE.

I have previously been sympathetic towards the West Bank and Gaza struggles, but this illustrates exactly why Israel struggles with these folks. It makes me about a hundred times less sympathetic towards Palestinians, and a thousand times more agreeing with Israel.

(30,099 posts)has to do with the idea this Israeli official is putting up..which is a military operation in
response. If you feel that is appropriate, that is your choice, but I'm not sure what
you said so far has to do with the OP at hand.

agree on that or not? That is what I have been trying to understand about your posts,
how are they relevant to his idea.
