Israel has reportedly imposed a life ban on doctor and activist Mads Gilbert from entering the Gaza Strip.
According to The Local news website's Norway edition, the Israeli government cited security reasons for banning Gilbert from the Hamas-run enclave.
Gilbert, a leading Norwegian physician known for being severely critical of Israel, worked as a doctor at Shifa Medical Center during the recent war between Israel and militants in the Strip. He also worked there during the previous round of Israel-Gaza fighting, in 2008-2009.
According to the report, Gilbert was stopped en route to the Gaza Strip, where he was planning to return to the hospital, by Israeli officials last month. The Norwegian Embassy in Tel Aviv reportedly took up the incident with the Israeli government, who stated that the physician has been banned from Gaza for security reasons.

(90,061 posts)I remember well 9/11/2001, when I first heard of the airplanes crashing into buildings in NYC and DC.
Now I should mention that I have more than once been flying into say, Kansas City, and observed that "Boy those buildings are floating right there all around us, it would be easy to hit one." And there was the guy with the small plane in Florida too. So I was not surprised at all. I mean car bombs have been around since cars have been around, it's not much of a reach for a plane. I mean Japan, WWIi, suicide bombers, it's not new..
No, my first reactions were:
1.) These guys were much more competent than I expected, they made a really big mess, and very cheap too.
2.) And they really picked their targets too, the WTC, the Pentagon, and the Congress. They aimed for the top.
3.) Four! Not one, not two, but four planes, and all but one hit the mark. We must be really fat, dumb, and happy to get pasted that bad in such a low-tech way.
And around then, they spun up the Mighty Wurlitzer, and I figured it was just a matter of time, we was goin' to war with someone.

Hopefully this extremist is placed on a No Fly list , he may yet spring into 'action'.

(45,850 posts)His statement to Dagbladet was: "The attack on New York did not come as a surprise with the politics the West has followed the last decades. I am upset by the terrorist attack, but I am at least as upset over the suffering that the US has caused. It is in this context that 5000 dead has to be seen. If the U.S. government has a legitimate right to bomb and kill civilians in Iraq, the oppressed has a moral right to attack the U.S. with the weapons they may create as well. Dead civilians are the same whether they are Americans, Palestinians or Iraqis." When asked if he supported a terrorist attack against the US he answered: "Terror is a poor weapon, but my answer is yes, within the context I have mentioned."
