This means that the Israeli company will no longer be "occupying" in the West Bank. Good job, BDS supporters.
Oh, it also means that 900 Palestinians - the people you claim you're trying to protect here - are now out of a job.
The company will make the move sometime in 2015. While it will still practice its equal opportunity hiring practices, it seems more likely that the region's Bedouin and African communities will be reaping the benefits of employment as opposed to the Palestinians.

(30,099 posts)in support of the action? It is sad that no matter what the Palestinians do, non violent or otherwise,
the response from the leadership in Israel has been a consistent, fuck you.

(39,171 posts)Israel will, and should, withdraw from the west bank. They already have an ample supply of foreign workers that have replaced the Palestinians that use to work in Israel. Israel will move on and leave the Palestinians to their own devices.

(39,171 posts)the perfect situation would be peace such that Palestinians could work in Israel and there would be unhindered flow of commerce. It is hard to see that happening until groups like Hamas and Islam Jihad and their beliefs are eradicated from Palestinian society. The risk to Israel would be too great.

(58,724 posts)They are Europeans, Americans, etc. who sacrifice nothing by making noise about Soda Stream.
The Palestinians who were employed by the company were not necessarily BDS-ers themselves.
Jefferson23
(30,099 posts)took place it would not be supported by Palestinians. There is no indication they
are against it.

(14,733 posts)It's still an Israeli company, so it will continue to be boycotted as long as the overall oppression continues. Moving the company does squat to change their being one of the boycotted companies.

(39,171 posts)It was how the BDS demands were filtered through political reality. SodaStream can sell in the EU when they move their factory out of the West Bank.
Making their product 100% Palestinian free works to their economic advantage.

(45,850 posts)farm products-meat, cheese, wines, veggies and fruits other products made in the settlements must be labeled as such can and not be labeled as made in Israel as they are in the US-for example SodsStreams sold in the US are labeled as being made in Barkan Israel-Barkan is a settlement in the West Bank not Israel, in the EU labels can not say that
The EU's ban is designated for products from the West Bank and Golan Heights, but would technically include certain parts of Jerusalem, though no Israeli goods are produced there anymore.
In accordance with instructions from the Foreign and Finance ministries, the letter goes on to state that farmers must present the ministry with a list of farms over the Green Line from which they receive raw materials that are combined with materials from multiple farms. This is being done in order to separate end products, such as powdered milk, that could include materials from both farms over the Green Line and farms within the EU's definition of Israel.
Currently, products sold in the European Union that come from over the Green Line carry a label, but are not banned outright.

But all the dumbfucks posting comments there are worth a giggle

Is this the kind of "victory" BDS was aiming for - rich Israelis and poor Palestinians?
