Netanyahu to US: 'Don't ever second-guess me again'

Report details harsh telephone exchange between prime minister and US Ambassador Shapiro ; PM says he “expects” US to fully support Gaza offensive

According to the Associated Press, the two spoke on the phone Friday amid growing tensions between the US and Israel over the Gaza conflict, that has in the meantime further detirorated after a UN and US backed ceasefire collapsed Friday morning.

Obama and other US officials did not directly blame Hamas for the abduction of 2nd Lt. Hadar Goldin, but they made clear they hold Hamas responsible for the actions of all factions in the Gaza Strip. The language was a distinct change from Thursday when Washington was focused on the deaths of Palestinian civilians.

Netanyahu told Shapiro the Obama administration was “not to ever second-guess me again” and that Washington should trust his judgment on how to deal with Hamas, according to people familiar with the conversation.

Netanyahu is responsible for this shit.

He started this adventure with the excuse that Hamas was responsible for the deaths of three Israel settlers. Has Bibi baby killer offered any proof yet?

And the USA is to shut up and just trust him?

This shit is on Netanyahu's head. Fuck him and any of the murder-loving hasbaristas that carry his foul water.

7. Israel signals Gaza war winding down, as shelling continues
Sat Aug 2, 2014, 11:17 AM
Aug 2014
Looks like they are going to declare victory and go home.

(Reuters) - Israel signaled it was winding down the 25-day-old Gaza war unilaterally, saying on Saturday it would not attend Egyptian-hosted negotiations for a new truce and giving Palestinians who had fled fighting in one northern town the all-clear to return.

But shelling exchanges continued, with Palestinian officials saying Gaza's mostly civilian death toll rose to 1,669 and Israel saying its Iron Dome interceptor shot down rockets launched at the cities of Tel Aviv and Beersheba.

Several ceasefires between Israel and the Gaza Strip's dominant Islamist Hamas faction had failed to take hold or quickly collapsed, most recently on Friday after two Israeli soldiers were killed and a third went missing in an ambush.

Israel accused Hamas of seizing lieutenant Hadar Goldin and the United States blamed the group for a "barbaric" breach of the truce. The United Nations was more guarded in its censure of Hamas but urged Goldin's immediate release.

it seems we're back to square one

"After completing the anti-tunnel operation, the IDF will act and continue to act, in accordance with our security needs and only according to our defence needs, until we achieve our objective of restoring security to you, Israel's citizens," he said during a press conference with Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon, stressing all options were on the table.

Netanyahu threatened to exact an "intolerable price" from the Gaza Strip's dominant Hamas Islamists should there be continued attacks from the Palestinian territory.

"We do not accept a continuation of the shooting," Netanyahu told reporters. "It (Hamas) will have to understand, however long that takes, that it will pay an intolerable price, from its perspective, for continuation of the shooting."

Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhum told AFP that the Islamic group will continue fighting "until our goals are achieved. Netanyahu wants to falsely claim a victory of his government and his army."

After the family of captive soldier Second Lieutenant Hadar Goldin said earlier they have yet to speak to Netanyahu, the prime minister promised to speak to them later on this evening.

8. Israeli official: Northern Gaza residents 'allowed' to return home
Sat Aug 2, 2014, 11:24 AM
Aug 2014

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- An Israeli official told Ma'an Saturday that most residents of the northern Gaza Strip "are allowed" to return to their homes.

Yoav Mordechai, Israel's coordinator of government activities in the Palestinian territories, told Ma'an that "with the exception of residents of Beit Hanoun," residents of northern Gaza could return to their homes.

Mordechai, however, warned Palestinians against approaching the separation barrier in the north, saying they could be shot if they did so.

Many of the residents will return to find their homes destroyed or damaged by Israeli attacks. Over 5,000 homes have been destroyed and some 26,000 damaged throughout the offensive.

Israel’s decision to abandon Kerry’s ceasefire efforts deprives Hamas of gains, ejects Qatar and Turkey from the game and puts the U.S in the bleachers - but may come at a steep price.

By Chemi Shalev | 00:08 03.08.14

The Israeli cabinet’s decision to abandon talks on a mediated ceasefire and to unilaterally decide if and when its Gaza operations come to an end was based on its complete lack of confidence in Hamas’ will or ability to adhere to agreements and on its plan to rely on Israeli deterrence instead. The ramifications of the decision, however, spread farther and wider: it disqualifies Hamas as a partner to the process..

35. Egyptian scholars issue pro-Gaza statement
Sun Aug 3, 2014, 08:58 PM
Aug 2014
JERUSALEM (Ma’an) – Amidst unprecedented Egyptian support to Israel in its military offensive against Hamas, a group of Egyptian scholars issued a statement Saturday declaring support to the Gaza Strip.

More than 60 scholars including academics, writers, poets, artistic figures among others signed the statement which described the Israeli military offensive as a “criminal war of genocide” against civilian residents of the Gaza Strip.

“We, the undersigned Egyptian innovators, journalists and intellectuals announce full solidarity with our Palestinian brothers in Gaza against the criminal war of genocide which the army of Zionists is committing against civilian residents in the Gaza Strip.

Thousands of martyrs have fell so far and others have been injured the majority of whom are elderly people, women and children marking an ugly breach of international conventions which incriminate the excessive use of force during armed conflicts especially against unarmed civilians.”
