A prayer in memory of Naftali Frenkel, Eyal Yifrach and Gilad Shaar, zl, by Rabbis for Human Rights member Rabbi Professor Yehoyada Amir.By: Rabbi Professor Yehoyada Amir
For death is come up into our windows
it is entered into our palaces
to cut off the children from the street
and the young men from the broad places (Jeremiah 9:20)
With bleeding and grieving hearts, with shock and anguish, we face the bitter news of the murder of Naftali Frenkel, Eyal Yifrach and Gilad Shaar, zl. We are devastated and furious and oh so eager for revenge.
May the memory of the slain be a blessing for their families and dear ones. May God comfort them and give them the emotional and spiritual strength to carry the burden of their grief. May the love and solidarity bestowed upon them still be theirs in the trying days ahead.
At these trying moments may we always remember we are commanded to pursue life, peace and justice, to repair the world, the kingdom of God.

(3,860 posts)The Nazis were a political party too. That doesn't mean they weren't also terrorists; the two aren't mutually exclusive. It also doesn't mean that they didn't need to be eliminated by military force; the same applies to Hamas.
But the only "political theater" I'm seeing is from useful idiots who want to make apologies for Hamas' terrorism and incite more of the hatred toward Israelis that led to the kidnappings and murders in the first place.

on every issue the Democratic Party stands for, will not give you the credibility
you seem to think it will bring. I/P is only one of many...just so you know.
You took a thread that concentrated on a prayer for the kids and made

(3,860 posts)except for the hard-core white supremacists and die-hard Marxist-Leninists who are rudderless without direction from the KGB and see Israel as a politically vulnerable proxy for Western democracy in general and the "Imperialist" United States in particular that they can safely vilify without disclosing their true agenda.
The major political parties aren't going to go against the sentiment of the people on an issue with such broad support, and the extremists on the other side are pretty much just ranting to themselves in cult jargon that everyone else finds either incomprehensible or abhorrent.

(14,851 posts)If you read this forum on a regular basis it is easy to tell that half the views here are considered extremist when it comes to Israel.
If this was the view of Americans the Democratic Party , who is so pro Israel and the party that garners more than 80% of the Jewish vote too, would not have the pro Zionist policies that they do.
Views on Zionism that can be read here in IP are in no way reflective of real America.

The Israeli government has adopted an official policy of harming the innocent
Published:
23 Jun 2014
The intention to demolish the family home of the two Palestinians charged with the killing of Baruch Mizrahi means adopting an official policy of harming the innocent, stated Israeli human rights NGO B'Tselem. The two suspects will be tried for the attack, and are expected to be sentenced to long periods of detention. Their family members, who are not suspected of any offence, are the ones who will suffer the loss of their home: 13 people are currently living in the house, including 8 children.
Years ago, the army concluded that punitive home demolitions are not an effective measure to deter attacks against Israelis, and there are even indications that they achieve the opposite effect. It seems therefore that the motives are reaping revenge and politically capitalizing on the current public mood in Israel, in light of the abduction. This draconian measure was not utilized for almost ten years, except for one case in 2009:
