Israeli plans for Iran go back years

http://m.apnews.mobi/ap/db_6776/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=Lve2QqmD

JERUSALEM (AP) - For more than a decade, Israel has systematically built up its military specifically for a possible strike on Iranian nuclear facilities. It has sent its air force on long-distance training missions, procured American-made "bunker-busting" bombs and bolstered its missile defenses.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's threats to strike Iran, voiced last week during a high-profile visit to the White House, were not empty bluster. Although a unilateral Israeli attack would probably not destroy Iran's nuclear program, it appears capable, at least for now, of inflicting a serious blow.

It violates the site's Terms of Service by claiming nefarious influence by Jews/Zionists/Israel and implying that Israel is trying to push America into war. Of course this is not to say we shouldn't support Israel if a war does break out.

Even if Israel has been doing any of what the article says, Israel has the right to defend itself, as it is the only Jewish state in the world and only democracy in the Middle East while Iran is a bigoted, reactionary theocracy. Who in their right mind could say that Iran's not a danger?

see? It's still there. The very last smilie is a button with ... in it. Click the button (oh, you have to enable javascript for this to work, if you habitually use NoScript) and more smilies appear:

re the first response: I thought the title and second paragraph were obvious sarcasm, though tasteless. The first para could swing either way.

Of course their military has been planning for this. That's what any military would do. They plan to deal with threats. One of the obvious would be a nuclear Iran, just as the threat of a nuclear Iraq was clear before 1982. So what? What's of much greater significance is that Iranian plans to obtain a nuclear weapons capacity go back years.
