U.S. condemns West Bank shooting; Netanyahu: Attack result of PA incitement

The U.S. condemned the shooting attack Monday night near Hebron, in which an Israeli man was killed on Monday night. The State Department said on Tuesday that it "supports Israel's efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice."

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered the bereaved family his condolences, and said that the attack was a direct result of the Palestinian Authority's incitement. "The Palestinian Authority keeps broadcasting on its official channels messages which incite against the existence of the state of Israel," Netanyahu said. "Last night, this incitement translated into a murder of a father who was driving with his family to celebrate the Seder." He also criticized the PA for not condemning the "heinous, criminal act."

Economy Minister and Habayit Hayehudi head Naftali Bennett said Tuesday that "the Palestinian Authority, headed by Mahmoud Abbas, encourages and funds killers of Jews on one hand, and with the other hand it blackmails Israel into releasing those murderers. They seek terror, not peace."

Netanyahu has a very broad - broad enough to be entirely arbitrary, really - definition of "incitement." Basically anything amounts of "incitement," as fits the needs of the Likud coalition at a given moment. But then, Israel's backsliding to the days when showing hte Palestinian flag was considered an "Act of terrorism" so what can you expect, there.

And Naftali Bennet, if anything, it a bigger fucking loon than Netanyahu. This is the guy who's trying to bring legal arguments to the Knesset for expulsion of Arab Israelis into Palestine, and you think he has room to talk about any of this?
