Manhattan Center Took Heat Over Rocker's Event
A Manhattan cultural center has canceled an event with rock star and outspoken Israel critic Roger Waters.
Waters was due to speak about his 45-year career as a solo musician and a key member of the British rock group Pink Floyd at 92Y on April 30. But An Evening with Roger Waters with tickets starting at $73 raised hackles among some members of the Jewish community because of Waters bitter criticism of Israel.

(9,688 posts)Is he just generally "anti Israel" because he's got nothing else to be anti, and "Israel" was hit on a dartboard?
Is he against Israel's beaches?
Is he against Israel's cuisine? Does he think Israelis just aren't cool enough for a Pink Floyd band member?
By the way, those student centers do tend to be fun. There's nothing like being a student surrounded by fellow students, those are the glory years.

It was a loss of revenue for the Y too which is chaval.

I have no idea if this is satire or an actual interview, because it's fucking Kid Rock.

(9,688 posts)to warn him in advance that they will grill him so he knows he's on the hot seat, which he should know anyway since he must know that this venue is definitely oriented toward the Hebrew cultural perspective. That would, of course, require the quid pro quo of acknowledging his responses, if any, and giving them their due - not simply writing him off with a judgment "he's antisemitic", or denying altogether that he has stated his POV.

(1,034 posts)He is opinionated about the way the Israeli government is handling the Palistinian problems,
but to call him anti Israel isn't correct.
Roger Waters also was an intermediary between families whose sons were killed on the Malvinas and the British government so the family members could visit their sons graves.
He is most definitely for Peace. If that makes it bad for them, tough shit.
