Obama to visit Israel in spring for first time as president

White House confirms that US president plans to visit Israel in spring but date not yet decided; Channel 10 reports that trip was made possible by a promise to launch the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

US President Barack Obama is scheduled to visit Israel at the end of March or beginning of April, the White House confirmed Tuesday evening following a Channel 10 report announcing the trip.

Obama did not visit Israel during his first term in office, therefore this would mark his first visit to the country as president. A White House official said that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Obama discussed the visit in a telephone call on January 28, and that the exact date has yet to be decided.

"The start of the president's second term and the formation of a new Israeli government offer the opportunity to reaffirm the deep and enduring bonds between the United States and Israel and to discuss the way forward on a broad range of issues of mutual concern, including Iran and Syria," the official said.

The last two Democratic presidents did not take nearly as long. Carter and Clinton both visited within three years of their election.

Gee

I hope all other Israelis join me in protesting that racist idiot and his appeasement of genocide and terrorism.

He should never be allowed here.
