American billionaire touts Israeli prime minister as "a terrific guy, a terrific leader, and great for Israel."<snip>
"American real estate mogul Donald Trump expressed frustration that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu cannot be president of the United States in an interview Tuesday with The Jerusalem Post.
Netanyahu, who spent much of his childhood in a Philadelphia suburb, cannot be US president, because he was born in Israel. Trump led high profile, unsuccessful efforts to prove that US President Barack Obama was not born in America.
"I think he would been a great president of the United States, Trump said in a telephone interview.
Trump, who considered seeking the Republican presidential nomination, said he wished Obama would take a stronger stance for Israel. He dismissed criticism of Netanyahu being too close to the GOP at the expense of the Democrats, who control the Whited House and Senate.
"I have great respect for Netanyahu, Trump said. He has a tremendous understanding of Israel and where it's going. His voice is respected. I don't think he has a bad relationship with Democrats, and he has the respect of the president.

(13,877 posts)...wanting an Israeli for president. And it's strange or newsworthy that the Prime Minister of Israel "has a tremendous understanding of Israel and where it's going"...like in any universe he wouldn't have that understanding?
The Stupid, it hurts.

(41,212 posts)the current Prime Minister of Israel has about as much understanding of Israel and where it's going (nowhere good if his lot stay in office much longer) as David Cameron does of the UK and where it's going, or Mitt Romney or Donald Trump of America and where it's going!

(13,877 posts)sentence with Mitt and Trump...really? Didn't know that.

(41,212 posts)though he has Ministers who are and he lets them do as they please, so it often comes to the same thing (in Britain's case, it involves attempting to destroy the welfare state and privatize the NHS and other public services - ARRRGGGHHHHH!!!)
But as regards understanding the needs of their countries, especially from any long-term perspective, I'd say they're all dangerously clueless!

I was trying to think of some humorous blip to add about this but I can't think of anything more ironically humorous than just saying the name, "Trump". It carries so much baggage that nothing else needs to be said.... just... Trump.
