Photos and footage from last night’s anti-Israel and pro-Israel demonstrations in London.

Last night one thousand anti-Israel protesters swarmed towards the Israeli Embassy in London after Israel had begun its legal (in international law) defensive operations against the hundreds of Hamas rockets being fired at Israel from Gaza. Not a word was spoken by them against Hamas despite the horrors Hamas inflicts on both Israelis and Gazans. A nasty atmosphere was heightened by dozens of young women and men with their faces half-covered. Were they Occupy protesters looking for a new cause now that movement is defunct? (see photo below)

If only the Stop The War Coalition and the Palestine Solidarity Campaign would mobilise such numbers to protest the brutalities taking place in Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Bahrain, Lebanon and Turkey, but there seems to be a general apathy towards murder and oppression in those places. It’s only the Jewish state rightly defending itself (with the full support of America and Britain) that really brings the protesters out onto the streets of London. Chants included “No Justice No Peace, Israel Out the Middle East”, “Zionism, You Will Pay” and “From the River to the Sea, Palestine Will be Free”, as you can hear:

The words aren’t about settlements, Jerusalem or, even, the Palestinians, but simply call for the total destruction of the Jewish state.

israel critics.... Seriously... People..

If we would judge israel by the same standards - looking only at the worst (insert protestor, politician, citizen), I don't think they'd look much better.

The agendas on DU concerning I/P sicken me. Sick fucks, those who want to justify violence. On both sides. Plenty of them right here, calling themselves "Democrats"....

Thankfully, that is.

The norm as I perceive it is neither rabidly pro-israel nor pro-palestinian. The norm, as I would have have it, is anti-violent. Can't say that you've earned the latter label, from what I've read from you.

And there certainly are rabid anti-palestinian posts on DU, just as there is the opposite. I am sickened by both. As I am sickened by anyone pushing a one-sided viewpoint (such as you constantly do here) in this many-sided clusterfuck, especially on a site such as DU.

Some might say that the constant rocket attacks from Gaza started the war...

Mr. Jabari was not a man of peace; he didn’t believe in peace with Israel and refused to have any direct contact with Israeli leaders and even nonofficials like me.

That would be from the person with whom he was supposedly involved in negotiating a truce.

But don't let facts stand in the way of your narrative.

The rockets began immediately following Israel's withdrawal from Gaza in 2005. The same day in fact.

Economic sanctions weren't imposed until Hamas won their election in 2006. The blockade wasn't imposed until the coup that ousted the PA from Gaza occurred in 2007.

As you say, don't let the facts affect your beliefs.

Hey, you're the one who thinks an event that occurred in 2007 caused an event that began in 2005.

in it's entirety. In the second video I did not hear one person call for the, how did you put it?..."the total destruction of the Jewish state." I think if the young reporter had simply asked the individual protestors "Who do you support and why"? the video might have some credence.

I assume the editors chose the worst, but they are so out to lunch it is funny.

Saw some of the same style of idiots on campus yesterday. Used a graphic about the rockets that was posted here as to warhead capacities. They went into complete shock that their bottle rocket meme was a total lie. One went so far as to say it was only kinetic energy and not explosives. Also refused to believe that Iran was furnishing them despite the statements on Egyptian TV

20. Vanderbilt University: "Imposter Jews to Go Back to Asia"
Wed Nov 21, 2012, 04:37 PM
Nov 2012

...

One protester claimed ALL of Israel is on occupied land, including Tel Aviv, Jaffa, and Haifa. According to him, “Every square foot of Palestine is owned by the Palestinians. The Israelites have no reason to stay there, ever.” He went on to stay, “Your citizens are not supposed to be there. This land is not yours! Move off! Move back to Europe where you came from.” Another sign he held proclaimed “the imposter Jews should go back to Asia.”

A lady claimed the Israeli response to the Hamas rocket attacks is “almost the same” as the Holocaust which claimed the lives of over 6 million people. Several young children apparently with her gathered around a sign claiming that Israel’s military actions – a defense of herself against Gaza terrorists – is tantamount to another “holocaust.”

Another lady at the protest claimed that the Hamas rocket attacks are “not even that scary” and that “Israel is the great aggressor.” She also inaccurately declared that “no one has been allowed in or out [of Gaza] since 2007” and bizarrely claimed that Hamas has only fired “a couple of rockets back” at Israel. Furthermore, she stated Israel’s response in Gaza is “ethnic cleansing and genocide.”

...

While protesters boldly proclaimed Israel was a terrorist state since its founding, protesters claimed Hamas was NOT a terrorist organization! The United States Department of State disagrees, listing Hamas as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO). One protester verbally berated the journalist for daring to inquire about the messaging on the signs.

The intolerance, bigotry, and ignorance displayed by the anti-Israel protesters at the event proves discouraging for all those hoping for reason and peace to prevail in the Middle East.

21. “Gaza is the Real Holocaust,” “Long live the Intifada!”
Wed Nov 21, 2012, 04:40 PM
Nov 2012

Many of the demonstrations were marked by extreme and anti-Semitic messages. Signs that compared Israel to Nazi Germany and expressed support for “armed resistance” in Gaza were widespread. Below is a sampling of the demonstrations:

New York: Approximately 1,000 individuals attended a rally to “Protest Israeli crimes in Gaza” outside the Israeli Consulate. Signs held at the demonstration read, “Palestinians are freedom fighters;” “Stop Israeli genocide in Gaza;” “Resistance is justified when people are occupied;” “Long live the Intifada;” “With our soul and our blood we will redeem you, Palestine;” and “Gaza is Today’s Warsaw Ghetto.”

One after the other, different speakers took turns condemning Israel using Holocaust analogies, praising “armed resistance,” and calling for “Palestine to be free, from the [Jordan] River to the [Mediterranean] Sea.” One speaker said, “Speaking of resistance, do you guys think resistance equals terrorism?” The crowd shouted, “No!!!” Another speaker claimed that “Gaza is the Warsaw Ghetto of today. Sixty years ago when the Jewish people in the Warsaw Ghetto fought back against the Nazi war machine, today it is the people of Gaza and Palestine who are fighting for freedom against a war machine that is no better than that of the Nazis.”

Referring to the Hamas military leader who was assassinated by Israel last week, Sarah Ibrahimi, a member of American Muslims for Palestine, stated, “Ahmed al-Jabari was a hero to the Palestinian people; a righteous fighter for justice and freedom, and his blood will be revenged.” Ibrahimi then led the group’s followers in the chant, “There is only one solution; Revolution, Revolution” and “From the River to the Sea, Palestine Will be Free.”
