Ariel Sharon's son: "We need to flatten entire neighborhoods in Gaza. Flatten all of Gaza."

From an op-ed today in the Jerusalem Post.

We need to flatten entire neighborhoods in Gaza. Flatten all of Gaza. The Americans didn’t stop with Hiroshima – the Japanese weren’t surrendering fast enough, so they hit Nagasaki, too.

There should be no electricity in Gaza, no gasoline or moving vehicles, nothing. Then they’d really call for a ceasefire.

Were this to happen, the images from Gaza might be unpleasant – but victory would be swift, and the lives of our soldiers and civilians spared.

IF THE government isn’t prepared to go all the way on this, it will mean reoccupying the entire Gaza Strip. Not a few neighborhoods in the suburbs, as with Cast Lead, but the entire Strip, like in Defensive Shield, so that rockets can no longer be fired.

There is no middle path here – either the Gazans and their infrastructure are made to pay the price, or we reoccupy the entire Gaza Strip. Otherwise there will be no decisive victory. And we’re running out of time – we must achieve victory quickly. The Netanyahu government is on a short international leash. Soon the pressure will start – and a million civilians can’t live under fire for long. This needs to end quickly – with a bang, not a whimper.

This man wants people killed just because they are Arabs living in Gaza. He doesn't care whether they are supporters of Hamas or not(not everybody in Gaza is, and those who aren't have no way of working against Hamas...many of them are only there because Israel refuses to allow them to move to the West Bank.)

Gilad Sharon IS, in fact a Nazi...he is personally on the same level as the worst of Hamas...and must be repudiated by all decent human beings, as all of us have clearly repudiated Hamas.

that said, I reluctantly proceed. Ever read Deuteronomy? Horrifying stuff; re-reading it right now because of what is mentioned here and because I use my time on evenings off after a long work day very wisely. Whole chapters are devoted to naming the various native tribes snuffed out (and meticulously describing the methods of knocking off the men, women, and of course the children too, but leaving the cattle because they're tasty) because the political leaders who appointed themselves to speak for THE LORD in those days thought it was an awesome plan.

I don't know where this dude is coming from (and it's a slight bit neck-hair-raising, to be sure--with you on that), but precisely what he suggests can indeed be found in your holy books. I'm not sure if making references to the content of a substantial portion of the recognized Torah is really something vile... To what purpose this is being suggested, I cannot say and probably don't care to ask.

Doesn't that mean that they are not always so cruel?

Someone give him a memo explaining that Truman dropped the bombs to keep Japan out of the Soviet Sphere, not to force a surrender.

And then explain why incinerating two entire cities is this thing called a "war crime" that, yeah, I'll say it, people should have been hanged for.

"The images might be unpleasant," really? I once had a pet lizard that had more human empathy than that statement expresses.

I just tire of the sad justification for it, "Oh, we had to annihilate two cities, because an invasion would have been harder!" - never mind that the Japanese had been offering surrender months prior, and the US just didn't want to accept their one term (that the emperor remain emperor... kind of a big religious deal for Imperial Shinto, after all)
