Bill to cut off aid to Palestinians passed by U.S. committee

Patricia Zengerle

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A U.S. Senate committee approved a bill on Thursday that would cut off $300 million in annual U.S. aid to the Palestinian Authority unless it stops making what lawmakers described as payments that reward violent crimes.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted 17-4 for the measure, known as the Taylor Force Act, after a 29-year-old American military veteran who was fatally stabbed by a Palestinian while visiting Israel last year.

The bill, which must be approved by the full Senate and House of Representatives before becoming law, is intended to stop the Palestinian Authority from paying the stipends, which can reach $3,500 per month.

Force's attacker was killed by Israeli police, but his killer's family receives such a monthly payment.

Because it seems that no-one gives a shit when it comes to Israeli terrorists. My view is that no-one's family should be punished for the actions of an individual unless they were directly involved in the criminal act. And if that payment is welfare benefits that dependents would normally get, then why should they be stopped?

and they don't pay benefits to their families... they lock them up for their crimes.

And if that payment is welfare benefits that dependents would normally get

They aren't. They're direct pay-for-slay cash payments to encourage the next suicide bomber to help lift his family out of poverty.

The news that much of the money goes to the families of those who kill Israeli's is not something Americans want to be part of. How about they build schools and hospitals instead of paying people to blow themselves up. Just more proof that the problems of the Palestinians begin with their own leaders and their wretched choices.
