Developing : Suspects arrested for ties to Jewish terror attack in Duma

Shin Bet announces the arrests made in connection with one of the most severe acts of Jewish terrorism to take place in recent years.

The Shin Bet cleared for publication on Thursday that Jewish youths had been arrested for alleged involvement in Jewish terrorist groups with suspected ties to murderous Jewish terror attack in Duma.

A serious development was reported in the large scale investigation of the Duma attack earlier this week. There are only two things that can be said about the arrests: They have led the Shin Bet, security establishment, and police to an optimistic outlook regarding solving the crime, and the likelihood of submitting an indictment to prosecute those responsible.

The second is that police have filed for and received a gag order to cover all details of the investigation. As such there is not much that can be said of the development at this point. The gag order remained in place on Thursday.

we're still waiting for sentencing on Mohammed Abu Khdeir's killers, that will occur in early 2016 or so we're told, albeit the 2 found guilty are or were minors when the crime was committed, that usually counts for much when the criminals are Israeli Jews

Perhaps the USA needs to revisit its policy of American citizenship engaging in patently illegal human rights violations.

I think that if they use that policy at all, it should be applied accross the board, and completely equally. If Israel has decided this is a good way to respond to acts of terrorism, then it should be their response to all acts of terrorism. I don't know what's so difficult to understand about that concept.

If you're not going to bother to read my responses, I'd prefer if you did not reply to me at all.

Apart from the fact that it amounts to collective punishment and punishes people who are not guilty, and with no due process, it only functions to escalate the situation, and perpetuate the cycle of anger, violence, and retribution.

Even worse though, IMO, is enforcing such a draconian policy against members of one group only. If Israel is going to carry out a policy of this nature, it absolutely should be doing it across the board, rather than singling one group out for special treatment.

What is your position on home demolitions?

32. Israel releases Dawabsha arson suspect on house arrest

Dec 2015

The settler, connected to a Jewish extremist organization, was arrested along with several others as a suspect in an arson that killed three members of the Dawabsha family in Duma village in the northern occupied West Bank district of Nablus.
The suspect was reportedly released and transferred to house arrest for five days at his home in the illegal Israeli settlement of Benyamin, east of Ramallah city.
The settler, whose name has not been released, is a married father of two.
The man was arrested 12 days ago by the Israeli intelligence and presented to an Israeli court on Wednesday, Israeli media reported. His detention was extended to Sunday, but was unexpectedly released on Friday.

34. Father of Suspect in West Bank Arson Killings Calls President Rivlin 'Führer'
Tue Dec 15, 2015, 03:38 AM
Dec 2015
Son is detained for the killing of three members of the Dawabsheh family in Duma; three suspects are being denied access to attorneys.

Haaretz Dec 14, 2015

The father of a suspect in the firebombing of the Dawabsheh family home has called Reuven Rivlin “führer” after the president met with Barack Obama at the White House last week.

A number of Israeli youths were arrested for the July firebombing in the Palestinian village of Duma; an 18-month-old died immediately, while his father and mother died weeks later. Details of the investigation, including the identity of the detainees, remain under a gag order.

“I didn’t see a skullcap on the head of Führer Rivlin while he was lighting [Hanukkah] candles with the Arab at the Black House, and I am convinced that he didn’t do the blessing over the candles,” the suspect’s father has written on Facebook.

“But let’s say he did wear a kippa and said the blessings. You have no greater ‘covetous man vaunting himself, though he condemns the Lord’ in the history of the Jewish people,” the man wrote, borrowing from Psalm 10.

Since the arrests, the father has criticized the government to protest the conditions under which his son was being held. Last week he posted a picture with the caption “Bogie is living in Dumaland,” using Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon’s nickname.

He added: “If there is a smidgen of justice in this country, I would expect heads to roll when the truth in this case becomes clear, but this country is criminal, and how can a criminal pass judgment on itself?”

In response to media reports that he made racist comments, the father wrote on Facebook: “It is not I who accused members of my people of choosing the path of terrorism, not I who sat with Breaking the Silence.”

He was referring to Rivlin’s participation at a Haaretz conference in New York where members of the Breaking the Silence veterans group, which seeks to expose misconduct by the Israeli army in the West Bank, were on hand.

“It is not I who is seen by public opinion as the most pathetic president in the history of the State of Israel. But that’s how the system works in the State of ‘the Jews’: turning the victim into the guilty party, as if the settlers were guilty for being murdered because they live in areas of confrontation,” he wrote.

“Then yes, I hate your president just as I hate all the institutions of the most anti-Semitic country in the world,” he added, apparently referring to Israel.

Graffiti stating “revenge” and “long live the king, the messiah” were painted on the Dawabshehs’ home and another torched home. A witness reported seeing four assailants flee toward the Jewish settlement of Ma’aleh Efraim. The army said Jewish terrorism was involved.

On Sunday, the Supreme Court approved a request by the Shin Bet security service to continue to bar three suspects from access to lawyers. The three have been in jail since the end of November.

By law, the head of the Shin Bet’s team of investigators can deny such access for up to 10 days. The Shin Bet can then ask for a total of 21 days from the start of detention.
