MK Zoabi Compares Israel To Nazis At Kristallnacht Gathering

At gathering hosted by far-left Jewish group, Joint List lawmaker says Jewish state engaged in ‘ethnic cleansing’ against Palestinians

By Matt Lebovic November 8, 2015, 11:32 pm

AMSTERDAM — Denouncing Israel for “racist policies” against the Palestinians, firebrand MK Hanin Zoabi of the Joint (Arab) List party accused the Jewish state of crimes akin to those committed by the Nazis at an event marking the anniversary of Kristallnacht in the heart of Amsterdam’s decimated Jewish quarter on Sunday.

Calling herself “one of 120,000 of her people who were not expelled by Israel in 1948,” Zoabi — who was born in Nazareth in 1969 — lashed the Jewish state for creating “more than 80 laws” that discriminate against Palestinians.

The Israeli rules, said Zoabi, are similar to the conditions under which Jews lived at the time of the 1938 Kristallnacht pogrom in Germany.

Standing just meters from the former site of a centuries-old Jewish orphanage decimated during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands, she drew parallels between Hitler’s genocide against the Jews and current Israeli policy against Palestinians and Israeli-Arabs.

And from an Israeli legislator.

Just staggering levels of Jew-hatred, even among Palestinian citizens of Israel who sit in the Knesset.

doesn't mean that Zoabi can do the same.

Netanyahu and his f**kwit ministers are doing it because they're the bad guys.

Holocaust memorials are supposed to be commemorative events, not political platforms.

Comparing Israel to the nazis while she is able to serve in the government takes a special brand of stupidity. And at the anniversary of Kristallnacht - Holy cow.

But rather than condemn her unconditionally, the Israel sucks crowd - as they ALWAYS do - find it best to deflect (towards Bibi or something else) in order to "balance" the criticism & minimize the situation.

for those who embrace the magical balance fairy. If something offends, just say it offends without trying to tie it to something else - that only makes the person making that comparison look like a coward who is afraid to condemn. I have no patience for cowards.

Amos Oz: 'Price tag' vandals are 'Hebrew neo-Nazis'

Acclaimed Israel author Amos Oz slams price tag attacks and those behind them, claiming perpetrators 'enjoy support from nationalistic and even racist legislators.'

I don't really understand what price tag means but the behavior of those racist assholes should be condemned loudly and they should be charged with whatever the law allows (at the VERY least, defacing property). I detest right wing governments that allow for racism without qualification.

Is not limited to MK Zoabi leftynyc.

Back at the disengagement in 2005 the settlers used it every which way they could .

From orange stars and striped pyjamas on little children to cursing our boys and spitting on them as Kapos etc etc etc .

So spare me the indignation against Zoabi.

and Oz is making a (bad) analogy on the behavior of some settlers. You think those are comparable? I don't. She is also fast and loose with the definitions of genocide and ethnic cleansing (a common complaint I have with many in the Israel sucks brigade). That she did it at an event commemorating Kristallnacht is what I found particularly repulsive as the magical balance fairy gets used far too often on this subject. And while she's able to serve in the government of Israel, that was quite simply not the case for Jews under the nazis. The comparison is absurd.

and until those settlers start lining up Palestinians and take them to the ovens, it will remain a bad analogy. And why refer back to that other article that says nothing about nazis whatsoever? Are you of the mind that if you disagree with one thing a person says EVERYTHING else said by that person is unworthy? I'm not.

And it's usually the most RW ones doing the comparing, an example being the Gaza settlers wearing yellow stars when they were being removed from their illegal settlements. I've never seen the outrage brigade bat an eye over those Nazi comparisons.

Yet another double standard for Arabs.

the Palestinians have a viable state, an airport, sea port, their own army,
their right to self determination..all denied b/c Israel has the power to
deny them through an illegal occupation.

People get up in arms about it, but the only answer to see that rhetoric die
off is an end to the occupation.

Which Netanyahu participated in.

In the months leading up to the assassination, then Likud leader (and future prime minister) Benjamin Netanyahu addressed protesters of the Oslo movement at public rallies. In some of these events, protesters held posters showing Rabin in a Nazi SS uniform or dressed as Palestinian Liberation Organization then-chairman Yasser Arafat.
