Hamas apologizes for violent, sexual Jewish-Palestinian cartoon

Hamas apologizes for publishing a sexual and violent cartoon featuring a long-nosed Jew in traditional Haredi garb and a Palestinian woman who represents the West Bank.

The group does not apologize for the depiction of the Jew, but for depicting the West Bank as submissive to Jews, Palestinian Media Watch reports. A Palestinian Authority policeman is shown standing near the crime and doing nothing.

PMW says the cartoon depicts “a long nosed Jew raping a woman in yellow, the color of Fatah.”

8. Many of us see it clearly

but still think that Israel is practicing de facto Apartheid, in violation of basic human decency and international law, in the occupied territories. The toxic, racist ideology of a political group that represents a portion of those oppressed people doesn't obviate that, nor justify it. Many of us, when examining a conflict, feel that it behooves civilized people to have greater concern for those who are more materially oppressed than those who are less - especially when the latter group are in fact are somewhat advantaged by the oppression of the other - and to object more to invasive, colonial powers practicing Apartheid than to weak religious extremist groups spewing rhetoric.
