Although the majority of cited incidents involve Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), the Muslim Student Association (MSA), student government groups, and the BDS movement, several of the examples involve professors of Middle East studies, many of whom are themselves BDS activists and supporters....
...No doubt there are countless such instances on U.S. college campuses that remain untold because students are intimidated into silence, or simply choose to keep their heads down and get on with their studies. It doesnt help that those who do share experiences of classroom bias are often falsely accused by the insular, academic world of reporting professors and of being spies. But the outside world must learn their stories to help fight the return of anti-Semitism as a socially acceptable bigotry. Such student voices need to be heard.

Alas, the fruits of BDS. Incitement, Bullying, and Intimidation. Fun times for fascist zombies these days.

(5,402 posts)So often people take a person's questioning of a premise as a personal affront. I appreciate the practical response.
It looks like anti-semitism may be on the rise. At least two of the sources you provided, however, stress the need to separate political protest behavior critical of Israeli policy and actual anti-semitism. The example, the author in the Huffington Post article describes how a swastika painted on an Israeli flag has a very different meaning than a swastika painted on the door of a synagogue.
All too often the far right falsely accuse people of anti-semitism even though the accused are simply unhappy with the way Israel treats their neighbors.

(26,060 posts)A swastika on the Israeli flag is every bit as anti-semitic as one on a synagogue door. I detest bibi but accusing him of being a nazi is so over the fucking line, it immediately tells me the person making the charge is an imbecile.

(3,385 posts)Yes, antisemitism on campus is growing, and yes, BDS has become a lighting rod for it. But antisemitism was growing on campus before there was BDS. It's a function of several factors, including the creeping incursion of Leftism into academia and the growing numbers of Arab and Muslim students and academics in Western universities. Antisemitism tends to run in cycles, and the further in time we get from the Holocaust, the more we are moving into a growth cycle. The shadow changes shape and grows anew.

(6,171 posts)It's outright dangerous to conflate criticism of Israel with anti-Semitism. Not only does it stifle healthy criticism, it also gives a platform for real anti-Semites. Crypto-fascist groups like Campus Watch should be banned from any involvement with universities.
Did you know that Campus Watch was founded by Daniel Pipes?
