(12,158 posts)However would the people of the Muslim quarter be given the same right of free expression?
This seems to have the same motivation as the infamous Orange Order marches through Irish nationalists neighborhoods in N. Ireland, or what's that woman, Geller, in Garland, TX who get exactly what they want, a violent response.

(3,051 posts)The "Muslim Quarter" became the "Muslim Quarter" in 1929 when Muslims started a pogrom and essentially kicked the Jewish families that had been there for some centuries out, killing, raping, and burning. Before 1929, it was a mixed neighborhood. The British barely prevented a small-scale Shoa and only then at great loss of life (on all sides).
Note that this was pre-modern Israel and the resulting conflict.
Northern Ireland, in contrast, was an actual invasion.

(12,158 posts)I guess it is OK as as well to force other people off their land to build settlements, like Khirbet Susiya.

At one time I was a big fan of Israel but it gets harder and harder to maintain good feelings where I see continued and escalating injustice.
