China names 100 corrupt fugitives in global hunt

China has named the top 100 fugitives it is chasing around the world, including Australia, as part of its corruption crackdown.

In a surprise move, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection said its Operation Sky Net would be moved in to the next phase to help find the men and women on the list around the world.

The anti-corruption watchdog said 10 people were believed to be in hiding in Australia and New Zealand after fleeing China under suspicion of mainly economic crimes such as embezzlement, and some of the offences date back nearly two decades.

The CCDI said the Chinese government would spare no expense to bring the 77 men and 23 women back to China to face charges.
