Bishop allegedly stabbed by 15yo boy during service in Sydney, while three others also injured

Police have arrested a 15 year old boy after a prominent bishop and three other men were allegedly stabbed during a service at an Assyrian church on Monday evening.

Video, posted on social media, shows Christian leader Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel allegedly being attacked at Wakeley’s Christ The Good Shepherd Church while delivering his sermon about 7.10pm Monday.

After the attack, a furious mob of around 2000 people swarmed near the church with riots breaking out and police struggling to maintain order.

A number of police officers were injured after being hurt during the unrest.

Since this was the second stabbing incident within the past week there are probably some people in turmoil about overall security. However, rioting only makes the situation worse.

Vehicles were damaged as people threw stones, bricks and bottles and, according to Reuters news agency, police fired pepper spray.

Witnesses said the people gathered were demanding for the attacker to be brought outside.

But the bishop has had a turbulent relationship with the Assyrian Church, reportedly being suspended for disobeying canons and forming a breakaway church.

In 2021 Mar Mari Emmanuel became a vocal opponent of Covid-19 restrictions, describing lockdowns in Australia as slavery and arguing that vaccines were futile.

I hate to admit I find it kind of funny that they just started wildly hurting themselves and anyone else nearby because someone hurt someone.
