1. I think I know what you're getting at here, but...

Per Wikipedia: Russian is an East Slavic language, spoken primarily in Russia. It is the native language of the Russians and belongs to the Indo-European language family. It is one of four living East Slavic languages, and is also a part of the larger Balto-Slavic languages.

Also per Wikipedia: Ukrainian is an East Slavic language of the Indo-European language family, spoken primarily in Ukraine. It is the native language of Ukrainians.

So you and Medvedev are both wrong here, at least on these data points. The bigger picture is another story.

I get the point, but using Medvedev's comments as the basis for making assertions is misguided, at best. It's like using Trump's actions to justify one's own.

...Kyiv, was established hundreds of years before Moscow, and both Russians and Ukrainians claim it as a birthplace of their modern cultures, religion and language.
