Prosecutorial Reform Bill passes in South Korea

All efforts by the far right in South Korea to block the legislation failed. The bill passed despite opposition street demonstrations, Hwang Kyo Ahn's hunger strike, physical confrontations inside and outside the National Assembly and a filibuster of the regular session of the 20th National Assembly. This is a major victory for the democratic coalition that passed the bill. The far right LKP opposition will challenge the passage of fast track legislation, in the Supreme Court. The LKP party members refused to participate in the vote, calling it unconstitutional.

Nice description of the significance, purpose and impact of the new legal reform in South Korea by T.K. Park of Ask a Korean. TK is a Korean American attorney.

TK has several further tweets on this thread describing the fast track reform bill.
