IS group commander Shishani 'clinically dead:' monitor

Beirut (AFP) - Top Islamic State group commander Omar al-Shishani has been "clinically dead" for several days after a US air strike in northern Syria, a monitoring group said Sunday.

"Shishani is not able to breathe on his own and is using machines. He has been clinically dead for several days," said Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Abdel Rahman said the notorious red-bearded commander, known as Omar the Chechen, was in a hospital in the northern province of Raqa, IS's bastion in Syria.

A US official said on March 9 that Shishani "likely died" in a barrage of US-led air strikes on March 4 in northeastern Syria.

How Old are these People who do this Stuff? There was some CNN crap about some other ISIS Terrorist who also had another comedic moniker who was on our Drone Target List for capture that Blitzer was raving on about. "We thought we got him but he is still at large." The name escapes me but it was another Comic Book name.

Who knows, maybe they are all so familiar with Western Media that someone sent them old comic books so they could pick colorful names out to get attention from our MiC who would propagandize it so that most Americans can understand the Evil Ones in Comic Book context that makes it easier to Kill rather than Capture and Bring to Trial. But, then..that went out the window so long ago...who can remember?

When we invaded Iraq, their Ambassador to the USA had "Sleepless in Seattle" in his video library. American Soldiers were amazed that he would be watching such a thing. It was reported in the WaPo about how troops captured his video library. There were other movies that were very Western there...but, I can't remember the names without looking up the article from the "Way Back Machine."

Who Knows. Is all crazy.

He was an unusual looking fellow. Looked more like a Scotsman warrior with that amazing red beard. Wonder if he was trained by our CIA?

US confirms death of top Daesh commander

The United States has confirmed the death of a top Daesh (ISIL) commander known as Omar al-Shishani, reports say.

"We believe he subsequently died of his injuries," Navy Captain Jeff Davis, a Pentagon spokesman, told AFP.

"Batirashvili is a battle-tested leader with experience who had led ISIL fighters in numerous engagements in Iraq and Syria," Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook said after the initial strike.

"His potential removal from the battlefield would negatively impact ISIL's ability to recruit foreign fighters -- especially those from Chechnya and the Caucus regions -- and degrade ISIL's ability to coordinate attacks and defense of its strongholds like Raqqah, Syria, and Mosul, Iraq," Cook added.

---snip

He was described as Daesh Iraq and Syria equivalent of a Secretary of Defense and that the US State Department had placed a $5 million reward on his head.

Daesh terrorists, who were initially trained by the CIA in Jordan in 2012 to destabilize the Syrian government, now control large parts of Syria and its eastern neighbor, Iraq.

In September 2014, the US Treasury Department added Shishani along with 10 other militants to the list of Specially Designated Global Terrorists.

Or at least I have read that. Been around since the USSR's war in Afghanistan, I think is what it said. No doubt getting him was part of why Putin is pulling in his horns, a fitting marker for the end of that part of the effort.

I remember reading that, also, about his involvement in Afghanistan. I could see Putin feeling satisfied over this. His withdrawal seemed to surprise the MSM "Talking Heads." They concentrated on devastation they say that Putin's air strikes did to Syria. As usual, they ignore the others involved in the bombing and why anyone was involved in bombing Syria in the first place.

No doubt getting him was part of why Putin is pulling in his horns, a fitting marker for the end of that part of the effort.
