Children Who Are Suffering in Living Hell

North Korean children who wander the streets for food and shelter are called Kkot-jae-bees. There are more than 200,000 KKot-jae-bee's in North Korea, which is an astonishing number. These kids scavenge the streets for food, and would sometimes commit petty crime to make ends meet. They eat once a day, and their meals usually consist of grass, porridge, wild vegetables or plant roots. It is devastating. North Korean refugess would recall these kids scurrying around the neighborhood, picking off whatever they can find on the ground that is even remotely edible. Sometimes they would get caught stealing bread, and would get beaten to death by store owners. It is truly tragic.

Those who survive to adulthood will most likely have severe brain damage from the malnutrition of their youth. An entire generation or two will be lost.

is going through a living hell in that country.

I was hoping Li'l Kim's strutting and posturing and generally antagonizing everybody else would alarm the Old Guard enough to get him removed in favor of someone who would realize what a disaster that country has become and maybe institute a few new ideas, like rewarding growing more food instead of building better bombs.
