Afghan Taliban admit Kunduz withdrawal

13 October 2015 Asia

The Afghan Taliban say that they have withdrawn from the strategic city of Kunduz after having "achieved their objectives".

The Taliban overran the city last month and controlled it for three days, before being pushed out of key areas.

The offensive was the first time the Taliban had taken a city since being ousted from power in 2001.

Also on Tuesday, a rocket allegedly launched by the Taliban killed two people in southern Ghazni province.
